Water, frozen or not, is still water. Nicholas Wolken set out to try to find surf waves in the Japanese mountains this past winter, and as they say in German; Voll in der tube! (for some reason, “So pitted!” doesn’t exist in the German language). Of course, they scored, because, well…Japan. The crew hiked the hills of Hokkaido for two weeks, earning every turn afoot, which is a testament to the Korua team’s dedication to combining the right snow in the right location to get the right shot.

Filmed and edited by Matt Foley, Clouds is another masterpiece of both cinematography and snowboarding, which is sure to get you hyped for winter, and probably looking at flights to Japan. I’ll probably see you there…
