Performance Review
First Impression. In an era of endless tech jargon and “bells and whistles,” the Roost is a breath of fresh air. It goes back to the basics, reminding me of a classic, well-constructed cambered snowboard. It’s an honest, high-performing deck that feels intuitive the moment you strap in.
Toe vs. Heel Edge Hold
- Toe Edge: Very strong and supportive. It allows for aggressive initiation and holds a clean line through the arc.
- Heel Edge: Equally impressive. Whether you’re laying out a carve or holding a line in the pipe, the heel edge feels locked-in and secure.
Edge Transition. Incredibly lively. It offers plenty of pop when moving from edge to edge.
Drive Out of Turns. The classic camber construction pays off here. The Roost has a great deal of snap coming out of turns, accelerating you into the next transition. It’s a rewarding ride for those who like to load up the board and feel it fire back.
Stability at Speed. The Roost handles speed with ease. It is stiff enough to hold its own in the halfpipe and remains composed during aggressive carving.
Fun Factor. There is a high fun factor in its simplicity. It’s a versatile board that encourages you to ride everything. The pop and spring make it an engaging partner for both carving and hitting jumps.
The Deep Dive
Overall Impression The Forum Roost is a “quiver killer” in the truest sense. While it was submitted for the carving category, it honestly belongs in the “all mtn” conversation. It’s a solid, poppy, and stable deck that performs as well in the park as it does on a fresh groomer.
Where it shines:
- Terrain: It’s thrives around the whole mountain
- Speed: Confident at all speeds
- Turn Radius: Versatile. It handles both short, snappy turns and longer carves with equal competence.
Who is this board for? Intermediate to advanced riders who want a versatile, cambered board that can handle carving, jumping, and pipe riding without needing to switch decks.
