Performance Review
First Impression. The Gilson Freestyle delivers a highly manageable, easy-to-control feel right out of the gate. It features a middle-of-the-road park flex that sits just a hair on the softer side of medium. Thanks to its hybrid profile, it leans into a distinctly playful personality on the snow.
Edge Hold. The edge hold is functional but mellower than a traditional cambered deck. It holds a good line for general resort cruising and is forgiving so it provides a catch-free experience that is great for swiveling and sliding rails.
Edge Transition. Transitions are loose and easygoing. On a table, this profile technically has matching camber and rocker heights (meaning it sits flat over the middle section), but on the snow, it mimics the behavior of a rocker-dominant board. It pivots effortlessly and moves edge-to-edge without much fight, which is excellent for quick low-speed adjustments.
Drive // Pop. The board packs a nice, springy pop. You’ll find it springboards well especially off little bumps or side hits.
Nimbleness & Predictability. The Gilson Undead feels right at home in the jib lanes. It features a highly natural, easy-to-find balance point that makes it a blast for pressed-out rail tricks, ground tricks, and flat-ground butters.
Stability at Speed. While it has enough stability to have fun on jumps, it is much more comfortable keeping things in the small-to-medium range ideal for intermediate riders.
Fun Factor. The fun factor is solid if you approach the mountain with a relaxed, creative mindset. It’s highly forgiving and incredibly pressable.
