It wasn’t the ideal day for a slopestyle contest. Eight inches of snow had fallen on Breckenridge overnight and throughout the day, making unfriendly course conditions for riders looking to put down their ideal run. Despite speed being a major obstacle, Chas Guldemond came through to claim his first top spot in Dew Tour slopestyle.

Possibly the most defining jump of Chas’ run was a huge switch double wildcat, a nod to the trick that helped Finnish rider Eero Ettala win X Games gold during his competitive years. But what won the Dew Cup for Guldemond was his consistency on the rails and jump technicality that included a frontside board 450 0ff, a cab 1260, and a backside double cork 1080 on the bottom jump.

Landing big tricks on a slow course was the name of the game today. Every rider fell on one of their runs and five of the twelve scrubbed both, which made just getting through the course a fair shot to podium.

Filling out the podium were Canadian riders Sebastien Toutant in second and Tyler Nicholson in third who, like Guldemond, put together solid runs when speed was the most dominant factor.
