Jamie, Shaun, Chloe, Sage, Red, Maddie, Hailey, Danny, Todd, Ben… plenty of big names have come through for the U.S.A. on the biggest stages in snowboarding and there might be a new one coming up in the ranks? Just in time for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, 16-year-old Oliver Martin is stacking results on the contest scene that is attracting an audience.
A first-place finish up in Calgary at the Snow Rodeo amongst a drop sheet including past Olympic vets like Red Gerard, Yiming Su, Marcus Kleveland, Mark McMorris, and plenty more was pretty impressive, and then Oliver followed it up with a few more podiums in slope and big air at World Champs held last month in Switzerland. Heating up at the right time, will he be able to carry his luck into next season? And will he start getting invites to X Games with his FIS podium-filled resume? Only time will tell.
Ollie’s hometown is listed as Wolcott, CO which is about a 20-minutes outside of Vail, but he was born in New Zealand, according to his Instagram bio. A rookie on the slopestyle team, he seems to be having as good of a season on the course as he has had in the big air discipline. He is the youngest male to win a medal at world champs for Team U.S.A. with a bronze in both big air and slope. Martin has only had seven starts on the World Cup circuit but snagged a top finish as well as some respectable finals performances. Described as nice and quiet by his teammates, just about every contest rider on the circuit has become a fan of his riding and shows support, whether it is on contest day or social media. With a bag of tricks that just seems to keep getting larger, we have seen Martin put down backside 1800s that look like a walk in the park. It is still early to tell if he will become as consistent and recognizable as some of slopestyle’s current top dogs, but it is a good sign for U.S. snowboarding as the international scene is only getting better and better every day.
