LUDLOW, Vt. and VERDI, Nev. – Okemo Mountain Resort and Snow Park Technologies (SPT), the world’s leading consulting team for special projects on snow, have partnered to reimagine the terrain park experience at Okemo and offer guests access to some of the most innovative parks in the East.

SPT has a long history of designing and constructing courses for events including the ESPN Winter X Games, Dew Tour, Burton US Open, signature events including the Red Bull Double Pipe, and regularly consults with ski areas in the development of many of the top ranked terrain parks in the country.

Okemo has been a leader in parks and pipe since the early 1990s. It is home to the East’s longest superpipe and has earned terrain park accolades from various snowsports publications through the years. Okemo’s commitment to new concepts in terrain park design continues as part of a three-year plan with SPT leading the charge.

“We are committed to re-energizing our terrain park program, and exceeding our guests’ expectations,” said Okemo Mountain Resort Vice President and General Manager Bruce Schmidt. “Our partnership with SPT will allow us to not only offer some of the most progressive parks in the region, but to redefine the type of learning terrain we’re able to offer our guests.”

Okemo will work with SPT to enhance all aspects of its terrain park program including design collaboration and the introduction of new learning-based terrain. One of the biggest changes this season will include moving the resort’s signature Rockstar Terrain Park from Nor’easter to Upper and Lower Tomahawk, offering skiers and riders an improved terrain experience with highly creative features. Homeward Bound will include a progression park and cross course designed specifically with those just starting out in mind.

“We’re excited to work with the Okemo team to enhance their terrain park offering and introduce their guests to terrain that will allow them to have fun, as well as continue to take their skiing and riding to new levels,” said Chris “Gunny” Gunnarson, president and owner of Snow Park Technologies. “Skiers and riders in the North East are going to love the results of this new collaboration, and will have even more opportunities to session creative features throughout the various parks at Okemo.”

Okemo and SPT are currently in the process of evaluating and designing the complete terrain park offering for the upcoming winter season. Details regarding park and pipe specifics will be available as the season gets underway.
