Waking up in Breckenridge revealed several inches of fresh snow; not exactly ideal conditions for a superpipe final, though it was perfect for pow turns.
The ladies got it started this morning and proved they were unfazed by the several inches of snow in the bottom of the pipe. Pipe contests are highly reliant on a clear day, as fresh snow makes it much more difficult to maintain speed through the transition. Less speed means less air, but the ladies stretched every bit of momentum to put together their runs.
Chinese rider Liu Jiayu did the best job of adjusting to the variable conditions, who found herself for on the Dew Tour podium for the first time. To keep things simple, she was stoked to be there alongside Chloe Kim and Kelly Clark, and just to be out here snowboarding. Top qualifier Arielle Gold wasn’t able to put together a podium worthy run, but she will undoubtedly remain a competitive force as we continue into the 2015/16 season.
