Platinum Picks – Best of ’22: Vans Luna Ventana

Vans’ newest boot in its impressive winter line is ultimately comfortable, performance-built, and loaded with classic Vans style–the Luna Ventana is a 2022 Platinum Pick.

Wow. Let’s just take a second and marvel in its beauty. The clean lines, considered colors. The V2 Waffle Pro Outsole with multiple zones of treads specifically designed for performance both on and off your board, including a dynamic lug tread pattern, a siped tire-like design, and toe-picking treads. Skating, sidehilling, and walking across the icy parking lot never looked more fun. Oh, of course, there’s a whole lot of boot built on top of that outsole, too. It’s just the beautifully intricate foundation of the all-new Vans Luna Ventana Pro.

Vans pulled out all the stops in designing the Luna Ventana, injecting top-of-the-line tech into a boot for female riders who seek out the lines less traveled. In Spanish, “luna” means moon and “ventana” means window—the name a call to search out potential beyond what we may think is possible. In order to do this, Vans has loaded the Luna Ventana with a heap of advanced essentials—Vans’ Pro Spec features. They’re comfortable right out of the box, thanks to the V2 Ultracush with Smartwool Liner and PleasureCuff. Vans’ proprietary Heat Retention 360°, a thermal layer that retains heat for the long haul, is a mega bonus on subzero days. And the V2 PopCush footbed has the comfort of dual density construction and perforations to allow airflow.

Of course, the hybrid design of the Luna Ventana allows each individual to dial in the fit perfectly for both comfort and response. A quick crank of the BOA locks in your ankle so you can get your laces just right. My strategy is then to release the BOA and give it a recrank or two to get to that perfect level of tightness in tandem with the laces.

At the sole of it all, the Luna Ventana is emblematic of Vans’ commitment to performance innovation, and it all comes together in a sharp design that celebrates classic Vans heritage.
