If every day were perfect, we would lose the thrill of discovery. It’s that excitement for the unknown that drives our curiosity over the next ridge, one chair higher, or to take those first steps outside the resort boundary. Maybe we will find powder, or the snow could be shit. A zone visited ten times a season will feel different every day, and that will always fuel our excitement for snowboarding.

On this particular day, our friends at Coal didn’t have bluebird skies and a foot of fresh snow. That wasn’t important, but the laughs and the friends were. Yes, we all hope for a bottomless turn each time we leave the house, but the reality is those days can be elusive. By surrounding ourselves with good friends and preparing for the elements, we prove to ourselves that what truly matters is a perpetual sense of curiosity.

Coal Headwear invites you to Approach Winter with them this year. You can read below on how they embraced the hunt for untracked powder and an exciting new zone. We hope it inspires you to get out riding again this season.

There comes a time each winter where you find yourself hunting. Hunting for that perfect powder stash, that ultimate photo op, or pristinely groomed corduroy. This search is called hunting for a reason–it’s not always successful. Even the most calculated of trips may end in failure. But who’s defining failure anyways? We may not have discovered untracked powder, but we were reminded that snowboarding is the best way to Approach Winter. We laughed till we cried, and tested a whole grip of gear from our Technical Collection. In case you’re wondering, it performed outstandingly.
