Danny Davis’ X Games 2015 winning run proved that he was shining tonight. In a tremendous performance from the Michigan-born style master, Danny claimed his second X Games gold medal in grand fashion.

Qualifying first for the finals in the formidable 22-foot Buttermilk halfpipe, Danny was amongst a competitive field that could have been anyone’s night. Several familiar names were missing after the elimination scores were recorded, such as Taylor Gold who already has two major wins under his belt this season. The riders that we saw in tonight’s final marked a changing of the guard. Gabe Ferguson, Ayumu Hirano and David Habluetzel are all under 20-years-old, riding alongside veterans Shaun White, Iouri Podladtchikov and Davis.

In a three run format, finals set to heat up a frigid night that somehow failed to deter over 16,000 fans to come watch the action. By the time it was Danny’s final run he was sitting in fourth place behind White, Podladtchikov and Japanese rider Taku Hiraoka. Dropping in to a roaring crowd, Danny put down the smoothest, most stylish run of the evening and knocked White off the podium, marking the second year in a row that the Flying Tomato missed his shot at a medal.

Congratulations Danny, we’re excited to continue seeing stylish pipe riding be rewarded. We hope you honor the 10% rule tonight…
