Holy moly, that was one heck of a stylish spin-off.
Men’s Slopestyle Finals at the Burton US Open was one of the heaviest contests we’ve seen in a while, as everyone laying it out on the line.
Red Gerard dominated all week and showed no signs of slowing down to take his first Burton U·S·Open Slopestyle title. Hot on his heels was Sven Thorgren in 2nd with two-time defending champ Mark McMorris in 3rd.
To win, Red put down a run that included; a noseslide to frontside boardslide to fakie, into a half-Cab 50-50 on backside 360 melon out, into a boardslide 450 Indy underflip out. On the jump section, he started off with a switch backside 1260 Indy, into a frontside double cork 1080 Indy on the transition feature and finished with a huge backside triple cork 1440 mute on the final jump.
“It’s pretty crazy, I’ve never really thought I’d be on the podium at the U.S. Open, so to win is beyond me,” said Red following the event.
