The Midwest has been having a less than amazing winter, but if there is one thing that Minnesotans know how to do, it’s how to be resourceful. Afton Alps has made some serious investments towards its terrain park, making it one of the go-to destinations for anyone that is jib-inclined in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The bright side of a tough snow year? You don’t need much to ride rails.

With the shortened season, it means that the spring parties are just around the corner. This Saturday, March 11th, Afton Alps is hosting the Spring Fling, a “beach bash” complete with a rail jam, live music, and of course a pond skim. If there is one thing that marks the arrival of spring, it’s watching people absolutely destroy themselves trying to cross a freezing pool of water. The festivities run from 10:00am to 5:00pm, but if you want to participate in everything, make sure you arrive early. The pond skim is limited to just 100 brave souls.
