First Impression. The Vantum was comfortable straight out of the gate and rode remarkably well and felt intuitive after only a few turns.

Toe vs. Heel Edge Hold

  • Toe Edge: Reliable and steady. It allows for comfortable carving on mellow pitches while maintaining speed through the arc.
  • Heel Edge: Consistent with the toe side. It feels secure and doesn’t do anything unpredictable, providing a stable platform for directional riding without booting out.

Edge Transition. Despite being a slightly wider board, transition edge-to-edge is smooth. It isn’t lightning-fast, but it is nicely balanced. On steeper, choppy areas, the board remained manageable and provided enough control to navigate moguls and uneven snow effectively.

Drive Out of Turns. The board has a surprisingly exciting character. While it isn’t overly stiff, it offers enough energy to feel rewarding as you finish a turn. It’s a well-rounded ride that provides a good amount of life without being demanding.

Stability at Speed. This board is very comfortable at high speeds. It feels dampened in choppy snow, soaking up vibrations better than expected for a medium-flex board.

Fun Factor. A versatile, friendly option that is simply easy to ride. It isn’t a stiff carving plank; it’s a balanced, “everyday” board that makes exploring the mountain—from moguls to corduroy—a fun experience.

Overall Impression The Ride Vantum is a well-balanced, directional board that avoids feeling overbuilt. Its medium flex makes it approachable, while its width gives it a slight edge in carving performance.

Where it shines:

  • Terrain: Peak-to-base variety, including slushy steeps, narrow groomers, and mid-to-low angle corduroy.
  • Speed: High-speed stability with impressive dampening in the “chunder.”
  • Turn Radius: Shorter turns, but the width allows for great carving angulation.

Who is this board for? Riders looking for an easy-to-ride, versatile board that predominantly stays pointed forward. It’s a great fit for someone who wants to carve but still needs a nimble board for steeper terrain.
