Performance Review
First Impression. The Fakie feels “right” from the moment you pick it up—the build quality and finish are immediately apparent. On the snow, the first turns were fun and effortless. It’s a medium-stiff deck, but it remains very manageable and intuitive, making for an easy transition from the rack to the lift.
Toe vs. Heel Edge Hold
- Toe Edge: Predictable and stable. It allows for easy turn initiation and maintains its line well on groomed terrain.
- Heel Edge: Exceptional. It feels incredibly secure, likely aided by the unique sidecut geometry that extends toward the tail, providing a “on rails” sensation through the finish of the turn.
Edge Transition. It’s a responsive ride that transitions smoothly without feeling twitchy.
Drive Out of Turns. There is a nice energy to this board. It exits turns with a predictable smoothness rather than an aggressive snap. If you want to tighten up the radius and crank out a more powerful exit, you can muscle it with the back leg to command a tighter arc.
Stability at Speed. The Fakie is remarkably composed at higher speeds. The medium-stiff flex provides plenty of dampening, ensuring the ride stays smooth even when the terrain gets a bit firmer.
Fun Factor. I was genuinely stoked on this board. It’s a fun, comfortable carving tool that matches its premium aesthetic with high-level performance.
The Deep Dive
Overall Impression A quality build that rides as good as it looks. The Fakie is a versatile, setback carver that is approachable enough for intermediates but premium enough for advanced riders to enjoy.
Where it shines:
- Terrain: Low to medium pitch groomers
- Speed: Best at medium speeds, but very stable when pushed faster.
- Turn Radius: Medium. It loves a mid-sized arc
Who is this board for? Intermediate to advanced riders—specifically those with average to below-average sized feet—who want a predictable, easy-to-ride freeride board.
