Bear Mountain Reports Over 8 Feet of Snow In Seven Days

8 ft. in 7 days is quite the stat!

According to Bear Mountain and Snow Summit’s snow report on the site, they have recorded over 106 inches of snow in the the past week. They have only reported 70 inches more for the entire season (176″ in total this winter)! By all the photos and videos we have seen coming from the town, it looks like the town is hunkering down. With one local calling it Snowmageddon 2023, the resort had to close today and most of the town and roads have followed suit. Quite the way to celebrate Snow Summit’s 70th year! Announcing on both Bear and Snow Summit this morning, this is what they had to say:

“⚠️ Due to high winds and extreme weather, Bear Mtn and Snow Summit will not operate today • 3/1 • The safety of our staff and guests are always top priority as we stay ready for the coming days • Snow removal is in progress as we’ve seen an additional 18-28″ of fresh snow in the last several hours • We appreciate your patience with everyone involved as we navigate through a historic winter snowfall • Stay tuned for updates and please follow link in profile for road/weather information…”

2/28 Announcement:
“Our staff has been working around the clock to have the resorts ready for you as soon as road conditions allow. From our Base Operations team clearing out the base area including outdoor seating and walkways to our Mountain Operations team packing down almost 7 feet of fresh powder and providing safe and riding conditions, we want you up here as much as you want to be up here. We appreciate your patience with everyone involved.”

We hope everyone stays safe! We are sure there will be plenty more to come following the massive storms hitting the West.
