Dew Tour Predictions Superpipe
The first Winter Dew Tour of the season hits Breckenridge this weekend and we're making predictions on who will be standing at the top of the podium. With Breck's new 22 foot superpipe the riders are sure to be boosting huge and trying new tricks no one has ever heard of or seen.
While Shaun White takes this contest season off (that's the rumor anyway), contestants are looking for a piece of the pie and a chance to in the overall Dew Cup at Snowbasin this February. Superpipe — Men Louie Vito Hot off his first win of the season at the Grand Prix at Copper last weekend, Vito is on top of his game and ready to hit Dew. The Ohio natives confidence under pressure at such events including the Vancouver Olympics make LV a prime candidate to stand on the podium. Louie's sponsor, Nike 6.0 is also a major supporter of the Breck Dew stop so Louie is sure to step it up and make 'em proud. Follow Louie over the weekend on his Twitter.
Scotty Lago Bronze medalist Scotty Lago is sure to pull out all the stops this weekend. He's already been boosting this season winning third last weekend at the Grand Prix and finished strong at the recent Air and Style in China. Kazu Kokubo The boy goes huge and does some serious tricks for his size. The Japanese native may not talk much, but his smile and persistence say it all, taking home multiple wins the past few seasons including the US Open Superpipe. Kazu is definitely one to watch and potentially the one to beat.
JJ Thomas CO local and past Olympian JJ Thomas plans to defend his 2010 Dew Cup title. Breck is JJ's home mountain and with the crowd on his side he's sure to put on a notable performance. Placing fifth last weekend at the Grand Prix, JJ is ready to crank it up a notch and stand atop the podium.
Luke Mitrani He may not be on the pre-qualified list, but with a second place win at the Grand Prix, 20 year old Luke Mitrani is sure to bring the heat on the heavy hitters. The Volcom rider is in his prime and is thirsty for a Dew Tour win. Look for his brother Jack to be cheering for him, as well as giving him a run for his money. Superpipe — Women Kaitlyn Farrington The Idaho native is on fire with her recent Grand Prix win. Her 2010 Dew Cup trophy will sure look nice next to another and Farrington is sure to pull her best bag of tricks in order to win the first stop. Kelly Clark Looking to take back her 2009 title, Kelly Clark is ready to step it up and secure a win in Breck. As one of the most successful female halfpipe riders in the world the VT native and Burton rider is sure to put on a performance not to miss. Elena Hight Elena may have ended up fifth last season in rankings, but this two-time Olympian from Tahoe is ready to secure a podium spot for the Breck stop. The Nike 6.0 athlete has a ton of experience and is sitting pretty as a shoe-in to podium in Breck. Follow Elena on Twitter.
Queralt Castellet Her name may not be as well-known as the other ladies, but Queralt Castellet is one rider who has what it takes to take the others down. The two-time Olympian from Spain is at the top of her game and is sure to up her fourth place overall from last year as well as a possible back to back Breck Dew win.
