It takes great fortitude to be a photographer in the streets of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The bitter cold that the Twin Cities experience is not for the faint of heart, but Ryan Taylor has built a career shooting in the unforgiving streets of urban Minnesota. His work has thoroughly documented what it means to be a snowboarder there: The gains, the struggles, and how special this community of riders is that call, and always will call, Minnesota their home. It is our pleasure to feature Ryan in the second installment of Snowboard Magazine’s exclusive photographer series Focal Point.

About Focal Point:

This photo essay series was designed to exhibit the countless photos that do not make it into the incredibly competitive pages of snowboarding magazines. Photos can be published or unpublished, taken 10 years ago or last season. Photographers are given up to 17 photographic categories to meet, each with the goal of showing a different aspect of life in snowboarding. All captions are written by the photographer.
