BURLINGTON, Vt. and LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Burton Snowboards and FOX Sports are pleased to announce that the 32nd Annual Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships presented by MINI will air live on FOX Sports 2 on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8, 2014. As the longest-running premier snowboard contest in the world, the Burton US Open has five hours of live coverage on the network featuring the world’s best men’s and women’s snowboarders competing in both halfpipe and slopestyle events at Vail Mountain in Vail, Colorado.

The deal is part of a larger partnership between Burton Snowboards and FOX Sports, with additional coverage of Burton’s iconic Global Event Series on FOX Sports 2 and FOX Sports Regional Sports Networks throughout the year, including the Burton US Open Snowboarding Qualifiers, Burton European Open, Burton Rail Days, Burton High Fives and more.

The action kicks off live on FOX Sports 2 on Friday, March 7 (1:30 PM ET) with the one-hour Women’s Slopestyle Finals taking place on a custom built course at Vail’s Golden Peak, followed by the two-hour live Men’s Slopestyle Finals (4:00 PM ET) on the same course. Veteran snowboard TV host Preston Strout calls the play-by-play, while Tom Monterosso, Snowboarder Magazine Editor, provides analysis from the booth.

The competition then moves to Vail’s Olympic size 22’ halfpipe on Saturday, March 8 (4:00 PM ET) for the two-hour live Men’s Halfpipe Finals. Coverage continues with the Women’s Halfpipe Finals at 6:00 PM ET (delayed). There will also be multiple airings of the US Open Snowboarding Championships programming on FOX Sports 2 and FOX Sports Regional Sports Networks featuring a US Open Halfpipe Highlights Show, Slopestyle Highlights Show and US Open Lifestyle Show.

Past Burton US Open Snowboarding Champions include a who’s who list of household names, world champions and legends, such as Terje Haakonsen (four-time US Open men’s halfpipe champion) Danny Kass (five-time US Open men’s halfpipe champion), Shaun White (five-time US Open men’s halfpipe champion and three-time men’s slopestyle champion), Kelly Clark (six-time US Open women’s halfpipe champion), Jamie Anderson (three-time US Open women’s slopestyle champion), Todd Richards (two-time US Open halfpipe champion) and many more.

This year’s US Open television production features an Emmy-nominated graphics package developed by TTR Pro Snowboarding for the World Snowboard Tour. Action on the slopes will be captured by a special cable camera from Germany providing unique angles for the television broadcast.
