Mammoth Mountain opened last weekend (two weeks ahead of schedule) just in time for Halloween weekend. Conditions were as good as it gets in October with riding from top-to-bottom. Four lifts spun with 33 trails of rippable terrain including a park in lower Main. The vibe was electric, with locals and tourists alike dressing up to celebrate the holiday, and people were stoked to be back on snow once again. It’s been over a decade since Mammoth opened in October and after a below average season in 2020/21, this was the Halloween treat everyone needed. Every type of snow condition imaginable was on offer including powder turns off the top and perfect groomers, jibs and jumps in Main park.

As always, Andrew Miller and crew, including legend Jeremy Jones, made the most and scored October 29 pow runs followed up with some pow surfing and backcountry touring to round out the weekend. Cheers to the season officially starting in the Eastern Sierras!
