Corona, CA – January 7, 2013 – Monster Energy is proud to welcome Iouri ‘I Pod’ Podladtchikov to its snowboard team. International snowboard superstar I Pod is no joke. Iouri plans to give Shaun White a run for his money as he poses a serious threat at this year’s Winter X Games in Aspen. As one of the most winning and legitimate athletes of his time, Iouri is a top contender for a Men’s Snowboarding gold medal at the 2014 Olympics.

“Iouri is a phenomenal athlete, Monster is a leading brand, they both have innovative mind sets and are mutually looking at how to be progressive and better,” said Circe Wallace Senior Vice President Wasserman Media Group, LLC. “I think its’ a great fit and am very excited to work with Iouri and the Monster team to help Iouri achieve his dreams.”

Born in Moscow, Russia and raised in Zurich, Switzerland from the age of eight, I Pod was fortunate to have easy access to snowboard in the world-renowned Swiss Alps with some of the best snowboarders out there.

“I’ve admired Iouri’s skill for many years, and his eagerness to join Monster is a huge compliment to our program,” said Cody Dresser Action Sports Director Monster Energy. “I Pod is clearly one of the baddest superpipe shredders worldwide, and amazingly he is only getting better. We are excited to support Iouri’s rise to dominance both in the pipe and as an international star.”

“I’m so excited to be a part such a progressive team and brand,” said I Pod. “Monster has such high caliber amazing athletes on their roster across all of the sports they back and I’m stoked to join them. I’m a huge fan of their skate team.”

I Pod’s passion for snowboarding and his drive to perfect every trick led him to stomp the first ever switch backside double cork 1260. Iouri has some new tricks up his sleeve that he will undoubtedly unveil during this year’s contest season.

Iouri looks forward to returning to his homeland of Russia in search of a gold medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
