There has been a definite energy above the booths at the Colorado Convention Center, a positive one at that. People are genuinely excited about snowboarding.
The snowboarding industry hasn’t been in the greatest health over the past several years. Brands have come and gone, shops are closing, but there is an undeniable tone of positivity and hope. With some shops closing their doors, others are opening new ones. Brands like D-Day Snowboards, Now Bindings and Homeschool Outerwear have found their own niche for growth when, several years ago, that probably wasn’t possible.
At Snowboard Magazine we’re optimistic toward the future. We want to inspire people to go snowboarding more often, to ride after years away from a board, or to try to get people to strap in for the first time. Board shapes like the K2 Carveair are breathing a refreshing life into our lifestyle, encouraging products that aren’t necessarily purposed for high level performance, but for just having fun.
This showcase of 2016 snowboard gear from the third day of the SIA Snow highlights some of the things that impressed us most in the labyrinth of exhibits across the show.
We hope you enjoy.
