Winter has really ramped up over the past month in the western United States. Images like the one below from Whistler Blackcomb have become a regular occurrence. The East Coast is still waiting for Old Man Winter to arrive in full, but one week could change everything. Read below to see where the snow will fall this week.

California

Sierra Nevada riders will continue to reap the benefits of El Niño this coming week. The first shot of snow will come on Thursday, when Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, Kirkwood and Sierra-at-Tahoe are all forecasted to receive 27 to 34 inches of new snow. Then, on Sunday, the forecast is calling for an additional 34 to 42 inches of snow—the majority of which will fall overnight. In the eastern Sierra, Mammoth is looking at seven to 13 inches on Thursday and six to 11 inches on Sunday. gfs_tprecip_norcal_18_1-640x480

British Columbia and Alberta

It’ll be another big week for British Columbia. From Wednesday through Sunday night, Whistler Blackcomb is looking at 30 to 54 inches of white stuff. Farther inland, Kicking Horse can expect about three to six inches from Saturday into Sunday. In Alberta, Wednesday morning will be the best time to score pow turns this week. From Tuesday night into Wednesday afternoon, Lake Louise, Sunshine Village and Mt. Norquay are all looking at about six to 14 inches of new snow.

Colorado, New Mexico and Utah

Colorado snowboarders will have a solid shot at some fresh snow on Friday into Saturday. The central and northern mountains should do the best during this storm, with about four to eight inches projected for Arapahoe Basin, Winter Park, Loveland, Eldora, Monarch and the Aspen mountains. To the south, in New Mexico, Saturday will be the day for new snow. Three to seven inches will fall during the day on Saturday, with a bit more projected for Sunday morning at Taos, Ski Apache and Angel Fire. Utah will fare similarly to its southern Rocky Mountain brethren this week. On Thursday night, a storm will move into the state, projected to drop three to seven inches of new snow on Snowbird, with the Park City resorts looking at about two to four that night. Another storm will then move in Sunday night, with similar snow totals.

Idaho, Montana and Wyoming

Winter will be in full effect in Idaho this week. On Wednesday evening snow will move into the state and last through Friday. Places like Sun Valley can expect four to eight inches while Brundage and Bogus Basin are forecasted to receive five to 10 inches in that timeframe. Montana will enjoy a snowy week, as well. From Wednesday until Friday, Big Sky is looking at five to 13 inches of new snow, Whitefish is forecasted to receive two to six while Lost Trail Powder Mountain can expect nine to 19 inches.

In Wyoming, Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee are both looking at a projected three to seven inches during the day on Wednesday, with another nine to 17 coming in throughout Thursday. More snow is expected on Sunday night.

Oregon and Washington

The Pacific Northwest is shaping up to have a solid winter. This week, in Oregon, Mt. Bachelor will have a big Wednesday with 13 to 21 inches projected while Mount Hood Meadows will be in the eight to 14-inch range. Then, snow will return on Saturday, to the tune of eight to 13 inches for both riding areas on Saturday.

To the north, in Washington, most spots can expect steady snow from Tuesday night through Saturday. Mt. Baker is projected to have 43 to 55 inches, Stevens Pass 13 to 26 and Crystal Mountain 19 to 36 inches.

New England

The struggle will continue this week for the East Coast, as Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire will remain mostly dry. However, don’t fret jus yet because winter is looking at making a comeback early next week.
