Powder Journal – I want to send a thank you shout out to Dave Grigsby at Snowboard Magazine for all the support! Today I decided to ride behind the Mountain Weekly Colorado News office as is seems like it has been almost a week since our last major snowfall and I knew the resort was starting to get tracked out. Being a powder junkie and considering this is a powder journal, I decided to take my luck at finding some leftover pow.

To my surprise a few people have been skiing back in our little private hidden zone at the ranch, looks like I will need to make some new No Trespassing signs ,not trying to be rude, I just like untracked powder! But it comes with a cost, our rent and recent untilites at the office are a bit high but well save that for another story.

As I started to snowshoe up I planned to ride some mellow trees lines and feel out the snow. I was shocked to see one of the logslides I had setup a month ago was now barely 2 feet off the ground. When we built the thing it was easily 6-7 feet in the air. Whoops guess I forgot it snows allot in Crested Butte. After seeing the logslide nearly burried I knew everything was going to be deep!!

I hiked up a ridge that I had skied before in an earlier powder journal post and made my way to the start of the old Buckley Mine. I was so stoked to be riding some untouched powder, and with that I was off. What an amazing run riding pow all the way back to the car! I am very blessed to have access to this amazing private hidden gem that could easily be ski resort. Needless to say you know where you can find me tomorrow!
