What would Burton do if they could completely start over with their boot design? You’re looking at it. The new Waverange X Pro is a preview of the next frontier of Burton’s approach to boot functionality. In conceiving its development, the engineering team threw all previous notions and emotions out the window, and addressed specific needs of modern snowboarders, and connected those needs with new technologies and concepts. The result, a midseason release, and full launch this Fall, will be a more simplified product hierarchy, making it easier for snowboarders to identify their ideal boot.

Burton also took this opportunity to inject more tech into any women’s boot they’ve ever created. The men’s and women’s versions share the same technology, but the women’s version is designed on a different last, which has a lower heelstay and calf to specifically accommodate the anatomy of a woman’s lower leg and ankle.

By decoupling the boot’s external closure from internal fit systems, the result is a boot that can be precisely dialed in via two BOA dials (one on the forefoot for fit and heel-edge response, one for heel-hold and toe edge response), and a third BOA dial for the boot’s closure. The entire Waverange X Pro package has a more custom-tailored, free-flexing character than any other Step On boot to date.
