Snowboarders who love their pow, take note: if global temperatures rise as forecast, up to two-thirds of the world’s ski resorts may be gone in the next 50 years.

Fortunately for powderhounds, a number of skiers and snowboarders are working hard to make sure that doesn’t happen.

On Saturday night, at 7 p.m. at Jackson’s Pink Garter Theater, SHIFT will honor a number of these modern heroes with a program that includes films, concerts, and the world premiere of DEEP: The Story of Skiing and the Future of Snow.

The evening will culminate with another world premiere as well: Teton Gravity Research’s first webisode from HIGHER Unplugged.

The upcoming film HIGHER chronicles snowboard pioneer Jeremy Jones in his quest for epic missions in the mountains.

Unlike most snowboarders, though, Jones has another dimension to his adventures. Jones is also the founder of the nonprofit Protect Our Winters, whose mission is to unite and actively engage the global snow sports community to lead the fight against climate change. Jones’ exploits in the mountains, as chronicled in TGR’s films, have inspired countless thousands across the globe. Teton Gravity Research and Protect Our Winters have both joined SHIFT as strategic partners for the festival’s launch.

On Saturday night, Jackson Hole will get a sneak peak of Jones’ next adventure, as viewed through the lens of TGR. The film is just one of the highlights that will delight the audience.
