JH Pow Wow

JH Pow Wow is more than a gathering of the most creative minds of our industry, it is an embodiment of snowboarding’s soul. That feeling we all had on our first turn, jump, pow day, and unforgettable session with our friends is manifested on piste of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. It has become a revered event in snowboarding due to the vision, dedication and love of Jackson Hole disciple, Rob Kingwill.

What Pow Wow does is bring together friends, old and new, with the simple requirement of going snowboarding with the most progressive shapes available. These are not your average twin tips. The boards found at JH Pow Wow are the swallowtail brainchilds of Gentemstick, the Shape-It-Yourselves of YES, K2‘s powder displacement creations, the bindingless powsurfers from Grassroots, or the cherished handmade decks of Franco Snowshapes. It is a time for experimentation, collaboration and most of all, to have one hell of a good time.

Below are some testimonies as to why this event is special and keeps the soul of snowboarding alive and burning in each one of us. Kinger, thank you for bringing so many incredible people together to enjoy the act of sliding sideways down a mountain. JH Pow Wow is absolutely wonderful.

The driving force behind the Jackson Hole Pow Wow is to bring the family of snowboarding together to ride at the best mountain in North America, celebrate snowboarding and snowboard design.

So many of the people who work in the snowboard industry get into it because they love to ride so much, but they usually end up riding less and talking more. My goal is to create a space where designers and testers can actually ride together, check out new shapes, and inspire each other to progress snowboard design.

Some idiot recently said “snowboarding is dying”, but from what I saw this past week, I believe snowboarding is stronger than ever! There are so many cool new ideas and innovations being generated by the craft shapers and big brands alike, all of which make snowboarding more fun and interesting, which I believe will ultimately lead to a stronger and more healthy industry.

The Pow Wow is designed to be an event where people can show up at 9AM and ride until 4PM everyday, get caught up in the joy of trying out new shapes, ripping around with their friends, and talking about snowboarding while actually doing it. I hope that people go home from the event with a renewed love of riding, reminded of the simple joy of snowboarding for snowboarding sake. We should always strive to be in this business not just because it makes us money, or makes us look cool, but because it is pure FUN and is who we are at our core – SNOWBOARDERS. JH Pow Wow: Live to Ride.” – Rob Kingwill, Founder of JH Pow Wow

Dweebing out on snowboarding with a bunch of friends, beers, and vertical feet was a dream come true!” – Tim Eddy, pro rider, K2 Snowboarding

This was my first year to JH Pow Wow, and to say the least this is one of the best events for the soul of snowboarding. The whole energy surrounding the Pow Wow is something special that brings back the roots and passion we all look for when shredding. I will definitely be attending this for years to come.” – Alex Andrews, Burton Snowboards’ King of Froth

The Pow Wow is epic because it’s done for the right reasons. Kinger believes in snowboarding and loves how it brings people together. This is a mindset I fully support. With the friendships and the experiences it has provided since day one, it’s why I started snowboarding.

Contrary to other demos the Pow Wow is designed specifically for industry leaders from all the top brands and retailers to get out of the office and snowboard together, test each others boards and ultimately inspire each other to grow this “sport” collectively. We’re all in this together, we’ve all felt the incredible affects of great days riding with our friends and events like the Pow Wow bring us back to that mindset. Thanks to Kinger and everyone that help make this event possible, see you next year.” – Pete Mullenbach, K2 Snowboarding

This was my first year to the Pow Wow and I was incredibly stoked on the vibe of the event… Riding with cool people and seeing everyone excited to be riding some different shaped snowboards. This event really captures the true essence of snowboarding to me.” – Dave Downing, Burton Snowboards
