From Oakley:
From the streets of Finland to the backcountry of British Columbia, from Norway to Japan, the film takes the viewer on a journey using state-of-the-art technologies and techniques. Snowboarding: For Me was shot over the 2013/14 season and couples archival and never-seen-before footage with testimonials about the sport and the way it has impacted the athletes’ lives.
“In setting out to make Snowboarding: For Me, the aim was to provide our team of athletes – arguably one of the most diverse and prolific groups of riders ever assembled – a platform to tell their story, to express themselves through snowboarding and to inspire others with their creativity and passion for the sport,” said Patrick McIlvain, VP of Oakley Global Sports Marketing. “What you’ll see on screen exceeds those goals. The movie taps into that internal craving we all have, whether a world-class snowboarder or newcomer, to get out and ride for love of the sport.”

The all-star line-up includes snowboarding pioneers Terje Håkonsen, Eero Ettala and JP Walker, Olympians Shaun White, Mark McMorris and Ståle Sandbech, and backcountry specialists Jake Blauvelt and Nicolas Müller, and more.
“I’m never satisfied with what I’ve come up with, with what I’ve produced. I look at it a day later, I’m like, take me back to that same spot and I’ll try to one-up myself. That’s what keeps me driving further,” Winter X Games gold medalist Eero Ettala said. “It’s not necessarily that I need to go bigger than the year before, just something different to keep snowboarding fresh for myself and fresh for the fans that I have.”
The movie will premiere at Lido Theatre in Newport Beach, California on October 30, 2014 and a series of international screenings will follow. It will be available to download from iTunes on November 4th.
Oakley, in collaboration with ESPN, is also producing a documentary-style, television version of the movie that will be aired on ABC’s World of X Games on Sunday, November 23rd at 1:00 PM (PST).
“I want to inspire people to go ride, be creative, be yourself, have fun,” said style icon Nicolas Müller. “I know life is serious, but that’s why we have snowboarding.”
