Competitive snowboarding does not always have the best reputation among the many riders that participate in the other dimensions of this lifestyle. During its infancy, it was normal in snowboarding for riders to participate in a contest circuit, race, ride halfpipe, and also film a video part in the backcountry or otherwise. Terje Haakonsen, Jamie Lynn, Craig Kelly, and the list goes on. But more often than not in today’s competitive sphere, snowboarders have become faceted in a single discipline because the demands of contest riding have grown exponentially larger, along with the features.

This presents the argument that style is slipping out of competition to make way for bigger spins, flips and maneuvers rivaling gymnastics. But Danny Davis isn’t going to let that happen.

With the help of Burton, Mountain Dew and Snow Park Technologies, Peace Park is now in its third rendition and it’s bigger than ever. By taking advantage of the massive snowfall experienced at Grand Targhee Resort in Alta, Wyoming, Danny and SPT built Peace Park completely from scratch and drew influences from multiple aspects of snowboarding. Hip jumps, rhythm sections, tabletops, step downs, and the world’s first 22-foot bowl came together to make one of the most progressive parks ever conceived that riders of all walks can shred. Mark McMorris, Louie Vito, Travis Rice, Arthur Longo, Scotty Lago, Ben Ferguson, Roope Tonteri, Ulrik Badertscher, Craig McMorris, Mikkel Bang, the list of invited snowboarders is as long as it is diverse.

Without visionaries like Danny Davis, snowboarding on a competitive stage could become a robotic spectacle rather than the expression of style that so many riders hold close to their hearts.

A huge thank you to Danny, Mountain Dew, Burton and Snow Park Technologies for bringing this incredible setup to life, and of course to all the riders to making their mark on what could be a turning point in how competitive snowboarding is broadcasted to the masses, as well as reshaping the terrain park ideology at your local resort.
