What a year. Now is the perfect time to reflect on what made 2014 an fantastic year for snowboarding, from the wins to the fails, snowskating, GoPro, and above all, incredibly admirable creativity. The below collection of videos is what you, the snowboarder, watched relentlessly over the past year to immortalize them in this list. While the next 365 days maybe be uncertain, we’re confident that we will only see more of what you will find below. So without further adieu, here are the top snowboarding videos of 2014.

 

10. Ken Block’s RaptorTRAX Shredfest with Ethan Deiss and Zak Hale

Ken Block: check. Rail riders in the backcountry: check. A sick truck with tracks instead of wheels: check. This video has over 1.8 million views on YouTube, it would have been a crime if it didn’t make the top 10.


9. | Katie Ormerod stomps the first ever women’s double cork 1080

This year, 16-year-old Katie Ormerod from Yorkshire, England became the first woman to land a double cork 1080 and set a precedent for women’s snowboarding in 2015. Not only did she land it but she made it look really damn good. Congratulations Katie, we’re excited to see where you progress snowboarding this year.


8. | Go-WTF-Pro Dog Bone Teaser for Shredbots the Movie

There’s just something about watching people ragdoll in powder that is oddly satisfying… Take on the perspective of Torstein Horgmo, Andreas Wiig and the rest of the SB crew in the GoPro teaser for Shredbots the Movie.


7. | Halldor Helgason’s roof gap attempt from NoToBo

We’re surprised Halldor even made it across this gap with the added weight of his massive cajones.


6. | Incredible snowskating: 10 years of Ambitions Snowskates

There’s snowskating, and then there’s this. These guys are doing legit ollies onto rails, no takeoff or anything, and making flip tricks look legit as hell. We’re predicting a snowskate revolution in 2015…


5. | Chairlift laps with Travis Rice in Japan

Sure, Travis Rice rides some of the gnarliest lines, on top of the tallest mountains, doing the biggest tricks, but even T. Rice gets down with his friends on a powder day. This one in Japan was done right from the chairlift, a luxury that must always be taken advantage of, no matter what.

3. | Signal makes a 10-foot-long snowboard in Every Third Thursday

Every Third Thursday from Signal Snowboards has brought the Internet some of the most ridiculous creations ever to hit the snow, all in the name of fun and creativity. The 10-foot-long snowboard is no exception.


2. | Yawgoon: Dylan Gamache

Dylan Gamache and the Yawgoons prove that you don’t need mountains to become great snowboarders. In fact, they did it with just over 200 vertical feet. Be on the looking for Gamache this season, he’s going to take over.
