The 2013 Freeride World Tour officially kicked off at Revelstoke Mountain Resort this past weekend with its new unified six-stop global tour. Originally planned to air yesterday, January 7, the finals have been delayed due to weather conditions that we would all consider a great thing. With snow coming down hard in BC, Ralph Backstrom checks in has he and other athletes enjoy some soul shredding around Revy in anticipation for a possible snowboard final on Friday, January 11 (TBD). Mack Daddy, the official venue of stop one of the FWT at Revelstoke, is looking prime for when the weather turns.

Here’s what Ralph had to say:

“We’re officially inside the weather window of the first stop of the Swatch Freeride World Tour by The North Face, and it’s officially dumping. While competitors are eager to shred the shit out of Mack Daddy, most are content riding the glorious pillow stacks that Revelstoke has to offer. The event organizers are optimistic that good weather will materialize later in the week. Also, my shuttle driver mentioned that we should have 45cm of sick pow by the end of tomorrow, so the pow slaying will continue.”
