Performance Review
First Impression. I immediately loved the lightweight feel, response, and energy of this board. A high-quality, premium ride from the first drop-in. There is a massive amount of energy return when exiting carves—it truly snaps out of one turn and into the next with authority. Handles high speeds with ease and holds an edge amazingly well.
Edge Hold. The Otto Plus is a carving specialist at heart. The edge hold is top-tier, providing a secure and powerful connection to the snow even on firm or variable terrain. It allows you to lean into turns with total confidence, knowing the board isn’t going to wash out.
Edge Transition. Transitions are sharp and energetic. While it may not be the most “loose” or “pivoty” board in the lineup, it moves from toe to heel with a sophisticated, snappy rhythm.
Drive // Pop. This board is a rocket out of the turn. The pop and energy return are noticeable and don’t require a ton of leg strength to engage. It offers a sophisticated “boost” that makes carving feel dynamic and powerful.
Nimbleness & Predictability. Predictability is high for carving and all-mountain charging. While it handled rails fine, I had more fun on the jumps thanks to its great pop.
Stability at Speed. High-speed stability is a standout characteristic. The lightweight construction doesn’t sacrifice dampness or security. It also handles jumps well for a non-park-specific board, feeling stable in the air and boosting higher in the pipe than expected.
Fun Factor. The fun comes from its versatility. It’s a blast to take into the pipe or hit flat-ground ollies and straight airs. It allows you to tap into a freestyle vibe without sacrificing the high-performance carving capabilities Korua is known for. It turns the whole mountain into a high-speed playground.
The Deep Dive
Who is this board for? All-mountain riders and carvers who might venture into the park occasionally but don’t feel like they “need” to stay there.
Overall Impression The Korua Otto Plus takes the proven Otto shape and turns up the performance. It charges the entire mountain, lays down powerful carves and brings added stiffness and pop for the park and pipe. Simply put, it’s refined, powerful and fast.
