Our previous Platinum Pick was awarded to Smith Optics for bringing to market the best goggle we’ve ever seen under $50 with their Tribute and Transfer goggles.

This time around, Smith hits the mark with their new higher-end goggle called the Preview. What we noticed first and foremost was the BirdsEye Vision™lens technology that dramatically extends your vertical and lateral field of view by reshaping the frame-to-lens interface. 25% more to be exact giving you a wider peripheral sweep and better downslope awareness. In steep terrain or tight trees, that extra visual real estate translates directly to faster reaction time and smoother line choice.

ChromaPop, meanwhile, does the heavy optical lifting. By filtering overlapping color wavelengths, it sharpens contrast in low-light, flat-light, and mixed conditions, letting you pick up subtle snow texture. While ChromoPop isn’t a new technology for Smith, the increased definition in the snow truly makes a difference in your riding.

If BirdsEye and ChromoPop aren’t enough to win you over, it’s also worth mentioning that the Preview comes in eight different lens color choices making the Preview ideal for riders who rely on precision, not guesswork.
