Today the state of Vermont made things official by adding a historical roadside marker at the site of the original Burton factory in Londonderry, VT. Having a historical marker is a big deal, not only because it is informative and eye-catching, but because it communicates how much the state of Vermont values the contributions of Jake and Donna and what they have created over the past four-plus decades. It’s pretty damn cool to see.

Donna Carpenter, Taylor Carpenter, Kelly Clark, Ross Powers, and more were at the ceremony to unveil the marker. Donna commented on Instagram, “And thank you to everyone who believed in us and believed there was a sport there, when most of the world didn’t. A testament to dreaming big and never, ever giving up.”

It can’t be understated the impact that resonated out of that humble, Southern Vermont building in the late 1970s. We definitely wouldn’t be here writing this post if it hadn’t. Thanks Jake. Thanks Donna. Thanks everyone at Burton, past, present, and future.
