Christian Pondella/Mammoth Mountain

In early November, a storm system and cold temps hit the Eastern Sierra and Mammoth bumped their opening day a week early to this past Saturday, November 5th. Thanks to the endless energy and efforts of the mountain’s ops crew, from lifties to snowmakers to groomers to the Unbound staff (and many more), Mammoth opened three lifts and multiple trails in the main base area. Unbound opened up their first park of the year, too with nine jibs and a small jump. That’s a really great start to the 22-23 season!

A crowd showed up to rip their first turns of winter, including locals like Kimmy Fasani and Chris Benchetler with their kiddos, the Wave Rave crew, and many more. Here’s a quick look at the weekend via the folks that were there. Stay tuned for much more in the coming months.

The storm system continues this week through Thursday. Mammoth just posted this update this morning with a quick 2-4 inches overnight and more snow in the forecast. Stay tuned to @mammothmountain–winter is officially here in the Eastern Sierra!
