Things are starting to get crazy in the Whistler Blackcomb Coldfront online film festival. Week 1 pitted Olliepop Films against Geoff Hewat and while both entrants debuted with solid films, it was Geoff that is one step closer to winning that crisp $10,000.

If you recall from our first post, just one vote gets you in the running for a prize pack valued at over $5000. A click of the mouse is a small price to pay to win Gear for a Year that includes a full snowboard kit, GORE-TEX® outwear from Arc’teryx, a GoPro setup, Icebreaker Merino wool base layers, a $500 gift card, a Whistler Blackcomb season pass and pure stoke for a season of heavy snowboarding.

Week 2 is definitely going to be a close match. Ryan Kenny & Benjamin Webb, who look to films like Robot Food’s Afterbang, face off against Graeme Meiklejohn, a Vancouver native that now lives in Whistler. The former of whom are our brothers in shred.

As part of the competition rules a certain amount of footage must be shot in the Whistler Blackcomb area, and Kenny & Webb did a tremendous job of showcasing the terrain in and around Whistler. Stylish park laps, huge features and a backcountry segment that is world class.

Graeme Meiklejohn took a slightly different approach to his film. A few powder shots for the intro, followed by a showcase of strong park ability brings the energy up and a Phantogram remix keeps the stoke high. Where he takes a turn is bringing the action to the streets, something that was not present in Kenny & Webb’s work. Great spots, solid riding in this ski-centric edit.

With two weeks left in the competition, the next round of voting matches up Heart Films and Nuulife Cinema, two big players in the Canadian/Whistler snowboarding scene. After next week the three remaining competitors will go head-to-head-to-head for ultimate film glory and $10,000 by winning Whistler Blackcomb Coldfront.
