JJ Thomas and Josh Sherman sporting the latest in YEA.NICE apparel

Last week a photo of some YEA.NICE boards were spreading accross the interwebs and into our inboxes. We thought to ourselves for a hot minute, then responded with a big WTF?

What is this brand/clothing company doing making hardgoods and will they be available for the public? So we wrote JJ and Josh an old fashion hand written letter (in hopes we would score a board of course) asking to shed light on their latest "venture."

img_3710.jpgA photo has been circulating that shows the YEA.NICE brand name on some good looking new decks. What's up with this? Are you guys expanding into the ever growing hardgoods world?

Josh: It’s been a very engrossing experience because of the significant impact that photo has had over the last week. We are one of the only true rider owned clothing brands from the snowboard world and creating clothes is our focus – since we are a rider owned brand, we knew when the opportunity arose to have the owner/team rider riding YEA.NICE snowboards, we had to jump on it.

JJ has had such a meritorious effect in our industry we thought it would shake things up – it’s good to do that every now and then. As of now, we have no plans to get into the hard goods market.

Who's manufacturing the boards?

JJ: Unity Snowboards. Pete Wurster is the owner and they hand make there boards out of the Unity factory in Silverthorne, Colorado.

Anything special offered in the boards like rocker/camber or crazy cores?

JJ: There’s no bells and whistles, it’s a regular cambered 159 snowboard.

Is there a specific type of riding these boards are made for or are they your classic all mountain bomber?

Josh: All around this board is really versatile. JJ’s focal point is riding halfpipe (for now), I know Unity & YEA.NICE rider Zack Black is also riding the same core & shape, so you know it handles well in the halfpipe. However these same guys ride jumps and rails, so at the end of the day it’s not designated for one specific style of riding, it’s built for fun that include all aspects of riding.

Any specific riders who are going to sport these new boards?

Josh: It’s to early to say for now, the only rider on YEA.NICE boards is JJ Thomas.

What are your plans for selling these bad boys?

Josh: These are not for sale! As of now, we have no intentions of releasing them to the public. It’s basically JJ’s dream snowboard. We had the opportunity to create a one of a kind YEA.NICE board and we were fortunate enough to pull it off with the help of our friends at Unity.

Where can our readers pick one up? Or can they?

Josh: If you want to pick one up, you are going to have to fly to New Zealand to hang out with JJ (he’s currently riding over there) and maybe he’d be nice enough to give one to you… but other then that, they're next to impossible to get.

But I don’t want to turn you away, if you see me, I’ll give you a high five in replace and if your still bummed because you can’t buy a YEA.NICE snowboard… I suggest therapy, that always helps. Or does it?

A huge thanks to JJ and Josh for finding the time in their busy days to answer a few questions that we ourselves here at Snowboard just had to find out.
