The Zimtstern fall/winter 2011/2012 outerwear “This is the &“ collection is made of 100% bluesign® approved fabrics! With the bluesign® standard, Zimtstern is guaranteed to avoid the use of chemicals which are hazardous to health or environment, from the production to the processing of fabrics. The bluesign® standard ensures that all textile industry partners worldwide meet the stringent requirements regarding wastewater, exhaust air and job security. With this standard, Zimtstern commits to the principle of sustainability. It helps reduce the use of raw materials, water and energy in the long term, and protects the health of the employees.

Convincing 8 important suppliers to manufacture their goods according to the bluesign® standard during the past 3,5 years, Zimtstern is able to produce the entire outerwar collection with 98% bluesign® certified materials. Apart from the fabrics, other materials, such as tapes, zipper pulls, buttons, print colours and woven labels, are now produced by bluesign® partners. Two of the beanie models produced in Germany are made of bluesign® approved wool. In addition to this, 75% of all streetwear products, such as hoodies, zip hoodies and t-shirts, are made of GOTS certified cotton.
Creative design, outstanding functionality & sustainable production
We have stayed true to our principles up until today, sacrificing neither look nor functionality of our products for the sake of ecological production. This becomes most evident in the products we entered for the Eco Responsibility Award by ispo 2011, representative of the entire collection: Womens Snow Jacket Rena & Snow Pant Waldorf Tech Denim and Mens Snow Jacket Sargas & Snow Pant Avior Tech Denim.The polyester-nylon fabric “Tech Denim“, used for all four styles, convinces by its robust appearance, which is supported by a slight dobby woven rib structure. Due to this fabric the styles get the distinct stripy denim look. Especially for the silhouette of the “Rena“ jacket the designers got their inspiration of a classic denim jacket and cared for details such as double seams, modified yoke, denim jacket cuffs and bronze colored buttons and zipper pulls.
Fabrics & features
In addition to the unique look all styles trump with a superior function and are equipped with many useful features: The bluesign® approved fabrics are windproof and the DWR is PFOS, PFOA and PRFE free. They offer a 15’000mm water column and 15’000g/m²/24h breathability. The Thermotion™ lining of the jacket and the fleece lined bottom & knee protection of the pants keep the wearer warm and the waist gaiter with jacket to pant interface (zipper) dry, all seams are taped. The handy pockets, headphone cable guidance, YKK™ Water-R zip, mesh-lined pit ventilation system, the fully adjustable contoured hood and the lift pass pocket make life easy with the “Rena“ and the “Sargas“ jacket, just to name some of the features.
