One of the most authentic and progressive events in snowboarding, the Kings and Queens of Corbet’s, went off this week at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. 24 renowned snowboarders and skiers took to the famed Corbet’s Coulior at Jackson Hole, and hucked themselves off the couloir and the numerous features that swathed the course.

The event wrapped up with the crowning of the King and Queen at the Pink Garter Theatre in downtown Jackson, Wyoming on Saturday, February 16th. Legendary hip hop group, The Pharcyde, took over stage and supplied the beats for the rowdy party. Travis Rice and Caite Zeliff were crowned as King and Queen, respectively, and walked away with $10,000 dollars each and a notch in their badass belts.

Asking 24 of the best skiers and snowboarders from across the globe to launch themselves into one of the most iconic inbounds runs in North America, Kings and Queens of Corbet’s pit top riders against one another in a peer-judged contest that’s unlike anything else. The results from this years competition for the ladies placed skier, Caite Zeliff, on top for the second year in a row, Hana Beaman claimed second and Jackson Hole Ski Patroller Ashley Babcock claimed third. On the men’s side, Travis Rice took home top honors while, skier Karl Fostvedt came in second place, and Blaine Gallivan (skier) rounded out the podium in third.

This year, the Rider’s Choice Award, presented in honor of late Jackson Hole skier Bryce Newcomb, was given to High Fives Foundation athlete Trevor Kennison, who launched into Corbet’s on his sit-ski and stuck the landing, a feat that had not ever been attempted or accomplished before.

This guy has always been snowboarding royalty, but now it’s officially, official. Travis is KING. P: Sam Taggart

To reach a judging conclusion, event organizers held a viewing session in the movie theater at Teton Gravity Research’s flagship store in Jackson this week. In this session, the athlete-judges evaluated their peers on style, difficulty, execution and overall impression and were able to decide which athletes would be crowned King and Queen of Corbet’s this year. But the results were kept a secret until Saturday night just moments before The Pharcyde hit the stage.

To say the party was LIT is an understatement.. P: Sam Taggart
