You might know Gray Thompson from, “Hot Boy’n,” with the Warp Wave crew, or perhaps it’s from his role in United Shapes Snowboards. Either way one thing is for sure, if you aren’t familiar with Gray, Hot Boy’n, or United Shapes, it is due time you climb out from under your rock and become acquainted.
Gray Thompson is the ultimate soul surfer, and we don’t say that lightly. Based out of the Sierra Mountains, it is far more likely you’ll find Gray out in the backcountry then at the resort. Few parallel his dedication to the mountains and snowboarding, and Gray lends new truth to the phrase “earn your turns.” For Gray, it isn’t just the way down that matters, but the true experience of the outdoors. From lacing up his boots, to skinning out to that distant peak, and back to camp to settle down around the fire before crawling back in his tent, Gray lives for the full experience.
His riding exudes a timeless style. His turns are recognizable as his, and in today’s homogenous world of triple corks, that’s really saying something. Gray was once a competition kid but he found early on that that just wasn’t cutting it for him, and boy are we glad. Watching Gray ride is a reminder of the true beauty of a carve, and of the reason why we fell in love with snowboarding to begin with.
Congratulations on joining an epic team of riders on the Holden team, Gray. We are really excited to see what this coming season brings.
Keep an eye out for Gray in the upcoming Warp Wave film, Aurora Boardealis
